Big Heavy Kansas Mule Deer

A customer brought in a great Kansas mule deer this week. This buck is about 70% stripped of his velvet but we love the look of the remaining velvet and so did the customer. This is a unique opportunity to preserve partial velvet and requires a different process of "painting" the velvet with preservative.

Typically with velvet antlers we will inject the preservative solution into the antlers while letting it flow out to a small incision in the tip of each antler. This process replaces any blood under the velvet with the solution. Since that is not possible on this mount, it will require several applications of a topical solution instead.

Stay tuned for updates on this mount when the cape returns from the tannery!
